Acupuncture/Electro-Acupuncture
Acupuncture is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine, which revolves around restoring balance or homeostasis to the body, mind and spirit. It helps stimulate the body’s own natural healing abilities through the insertion of very fine single-use needles into specific points on the body. Modern studies have shown that acupuncture functions by stimulating nerves to redirect blood flow where needed, and regulating physiological processes and hormones resulting in an overall calming effect. When the body is in a calm state, it is able to focus on healing. Electro-Acupuncture is used by first inserting needles into the body, then attaching clips to the needles where a small electrical charge is applied. It functions by stimulating the needles through electricity rather than by manual manipulation. It is most commonly used for joint or muscle issues, and as part of the protocol for labour induction.
