Kinesiology Taping

What is kinesiology tape?
Kinesiology tape is elastic tape that is placed on the skin.  It is designed to be the same weight and elasticity of human skin.  It uses a hypoallergenic adhesive and can be worn for up to 5 days (even swimming or in the shower)!

What does it do?
Kinesiology tape has 3 broad categories of effects: neurological, structural and microcirculatory.

Neurological:
  • Stimulates nerve receptors to decrease the perception of pain.
Structural:
  • Supports and encourages better posture and joint position.
  • Reduces stress on damaged muscles.
  • Helps to prevent joint movement into harmful ranges of motion.
Microcirculatory:
  • Improves superficial lymphatic flow.
  • Can reduce swelling and bruising.

How can kinesiology tape help me?
Kinesiology tape can be the missing link in injury rehabilitation and athletic performance because it stays on and works for days between appointments.  It can decrease pain and improve biomechanics.  No wonder so many professional athletes can be spotted wearing it!
