Cupping Cupping is a technique that involves the use of small cups, made of either glass, plastic or silicone, and may be left in place or moved around. They function to create a suction when applied to the skin, which helps to stimulate blood flow, aid in lymphatic drainage, and smooth out any adhesions in the tissues. It is commonly used for pain, muscle tension, and digestive issues. (Usually used in conjunction with acupuncture) Gua Sha Gua Sha is a technique using a soft edged tool to create red markings. It helps to reduce inflammation, swelling and tension, and increase blood circulation. It is most commonly used to treat painful or tense muscles, sinus issues and respiratory conditions. (Usually used in conjunction with acupuncture) Moxibustion Moxibustion is the application of heat by burning an herb called mugwort over the skin, with or without a needle. It functions by adding heat and is most commonly used for pain, digestive issues, fertility and menstrual issues. (Usually used in conjunction with acupuncture) Tuina & Acupressure Tuina and Acupressure are a type of therapy similar to massage, which focus on promoting energy flow through the body. Acupuncture points or channels may be stimulated using different techniques using fingers, hands or elbows. Both are most commonly used to improve the overall treatment and promote relaxation. (Usually used in conjunction with acupuncture or in place of needles) TCM Diet Dietary Recommendations are based on the concepts of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with the goal of achieving balance in the body. These concepts include food energetics such as warming or cooling; tastes such as sweet or salty; functions such as strengthening or moistening; and healthy eating habits such as chewing food thoroughly. May be recommended for many conditions but common for digestive issues, chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia, and infertility. (Usually used in conjunction with acupuncture) |
